　However, in a remote desktop connection, there may be problems with failing to connect to a remote PC for some reason.In particular, many errors in the screenshot at the beginning, such as "your qualification information did not work" and "Logon failed" may be many people who have seen it?

　It is difficult to understand that it is a stiff expression of "qualification information", but the point is information used for authentication such as user names and passwords.In other words, the above -mentioned error message indicates that authentication has failed.

　Therefore, in this Tech Tips, we picked up six types of causes of failure to authenticate due to a remote desktop connection, and summarized those measures.The connection destination (server) side is targeted at Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server, etc.As for the connection source (client), we also collected troubles on other platforms such as Macs in addition to Windows OS.

　If you specify a Microsoft account for authentication when connecting to a remote desktop, you will not be able to connect to the authentication unless you have entered the Microsoft account password on the PC at the connection destination and authenticated.

　The situation where you can sign in to the Windows OS even though you have never authenticated by a password on the Windows OS once, installed the "Microsoft Authenticator" app on your smartphone and registered the target Microsoft account.It can occur in case.

　When setup is started so that you can sign in to Windows 10 or Windows 11 with the Microsoft account described above, a two -digit value for collation is displayed on the Windows OS side.

　On the other hand, a smartphone that installs the Microsoft Authenticator app will receive a notification that you are trying to sign in.If you start the Microsoft Authenticator app and select the value for the above -mentioned collation, the authentication will be completed without a password, and you will be able to sign in to the Windows OS.

　Furthermore, suppose you set up non -password authentication methods, such as Windows Hello's PIN, fingerprint authentication, face authentication, etc., and set up to sign in according to the recommendation from the Windows OS.Then, on the PC, there is almost no opportunity to enter the Microsoft account password.

　In this state, if you try to connect to a remote desktop from another PC or the like using the same Microsoft account, you will not be able to confirm the password of the Microsoft account on the connected PC, causing a authentication error.

　To solve it, a password authentication may be performed with the relevant Microsoft account for the connected PC.This only needs to be executed once.
