Actually, when "Web & App Activity Settings" is turned on, Google's search history is saved in your account and used to provide services tailored to each user. This saved search history can be checked and deleted at any time in "My Activity", but there is a possibility that it will be seen when you lend your smartphone to someone else.

Therefore, a setting was added to require additional authentication to view "My Activity". With this, the history cannot be seen unless the password or two-factor authentication is broken.

In addition, an option to automatically delete search history has been introduced (disabled by default). Three months, 3 months, 18 months, and 36 months can be selected for the period until automatic deletion. In addition, the ability to quickly delete the last 15 minutes of search history with a single tap is also provided in the iOS version of the "Google" app. The Android version of the app is expected to be introduced later this year.
